Why submit articles for free instead of charging money

fellow 9. August 2010

Why would anyone submit articles to a free article directory? After all, authors have probably spent quite some time writing those articles and could demand getting paid for writing them. However, there are a number of good reasons to submit essays for free.

The other way around

Believe it or not, but submitting articles free of charge will probably let authors earn more money in the long run than charging money – even a small amount – for them will. One of the reasons for this is that a well thought-out article will probably make the readers look for more written text by the same author. What exactly that author writes about doesn’t even have to matter that much. If he or she has an interesting style of writing people will most likely want to read more articles (unless it is something totally out of their range of interests).

What do authors gain from this? If he or she is a website owner and hosts more articles – also free of charge, of course – on their website, people will most likely look it up after having read previous articles on a free article directory. More people reading a website means more traffic, which usually results in more advertisements being displayed, which in return means more income.

Understanding the internet

If authors charge money for their articles, even if it is only a tiny amount like 1 US-Dollar, people will most likely never read them. This might work on websites of well-known newspapers or other internet publications, but why would anyone read a text by a totally unknown author? However, if authors publish their articles free of charge readers will often at least give it a try. If those readers then discover that the same author is responsible for a number of well-written articles, they will look him or her up on search engines, eventually find the authors website and thus generating income.

It might sound strange, but submitting articles for free is actually the right way to make money on the internet.
